Bumble Bee Foods® Announces Completion of First Phase of Sodium Reduction in Products
  May 2010 Release of Bumble Bee Albacore with 44 Percent Less Sodium

SAN DIEGO (April 22, 2010) — Bumble Bee Foods®, marketer of America's leading premium seafood brand, has announced completion of significant sodium reductions across its line of canned albacore and light meat tuna products. Further sodium reducing initiatives are in the works for the remaining products in the company's portfolio. Following an almost two year process, supermarkets will begin receiving the Bumble Bee albacore and light meat tuna with reduced sodium levels beginning May 2010.

Bumble Bee albacore products will now contain 140mg of sodium or less per serving – a reduction of 44 percent from average sodium levels of 250mg in 2008. Light meat tuna by the brand has been reduced to 180mg per serving. The company was able to reduce sodium while maintaining the great flavor profile that has enabled Bumble Bee to become America's leading seafood brand, according to President and CEO Chris Lischewski.  More

Brand Survey Shows Opportunity for Consumers to Save on Grocery Shopping
  Bumble Bee Foods Offers Budget-Friendly Shopping Tips For the New Year

SAN DIEGO (January 5, 2010) — Results of a recent Bumble Bee Foods survey suggest that a significant majority of consumers are spending more or about the same on groceries as they did two years ago, but a relatively limited percentage of shoppers are fully recognizing cost saving opportunities beyond the typical approach of looking for the best prices, special offers and/or coupons.

In an opinion survey targeting a national random sample of 1,000-plus respondents, the Bumble Bee-commissioned research found that 81% of consumers are spending more or about the same on groceries as they did two years ago. But the same respondents confirmed that they are also actively looking for ways to save on their grocery bills, including shopping for best prices at a variety of stores, and using coupons as well as other techniques to extend the value of their spending. According to Bumble Bee, the results of the survey indicate the opportunity for consumers to realize additional savings by following a few simple tips.  More
